Tysabri Blogs Itself
Hey out there--what's the Newest? I found out that while on Tysabri, you may develop "Persistently Positive Antibodies". In this case, Tysabri will stop working for you. These "antibodies are proteins made by the body to help fight against foreign invaders" -- your body thinks Tysabri is a Foreign Invader (like bacteria & viruses). This info. is NOT in the Patient Medication Guide, that you get before every monthly infusion. This info. is in a booklet called "Getting Started with Tysabri" that Biogen mailed to me, not knowing I've already been on Tysabri for many months. Why doesn't Biogen include this info. in the Patient Medication Guide, which has been the SAME since I started receiving it almost a year ago-? Oh, well, I guess you can call it one more of the persistent OVERSIGHTS that Biogen is guilty of.

Huh, I've never heard of Persistently Positive Antibodies. What are they anyway?
It's like when you get stung by a bee and develop antibodies to the bee sting (foreign invader). So the next time you get stung your reaction can be worse or anaphlactic (sp?) shock. This happened to my husband and another woman at our hospital. You can go into shock and code (heart stops working). This was happening to my husband but thankfully the nurses were on the alert for this because the woman before him did code..although they brought her back. It's the real deal and I'm not suprise the drug company overlooks sharing this info. We did not know either. Obviously my husband cannot use this drug because he has the antibodies which would do the same thing again. I thank god he can't. I never trusted this drug and by the way two new patients contracted PML-the deadly brain disease recently despite the drug company's claims that the reason it happened before they took it off the market was because those patients were using other MS therapies with Tysabri. What is their excuse now?
